Testing Hub
The Testing Hub is the central command center of Appsvio Test Management in Jira. It serves as the primary landing page for all users, providing quick access to your team’s testing initiatives and, for administrators, a gateway to global application settings.
Accessing the Testing Hub
Elements of the Testing Hub are available to both standard users and global admins. However, the available actions depend heavily on your Jira permissions.
To open the hub:
- Navigate to the left navigation menu in Jira.
- Click on Apps and select Test Management.
Jira Administrators have full, unrestricted access to all four main tabs, including the ability to create sample projects and configure global setups.
Standard Jira users can also access the hub and navigate through the left-hand menu, but they must meet specific project permission requirements to use certain features:
- Get Started: Access onboarding materials and quick guides to learn the app’s core features.
- Testing Projects: Browse, search, and filter all configured testing environments to find the setup your team is working on.
- Import: Seamlessly import your Test Cases into ATM.
- Reports: Generate and view comprehensive analytics, such as Test Coverage and Traceability, to track your testing progress.
Permission Note
- In the Get Started, the button to generate a Sample Project is not visible to standard users. This action requires Jira Administrator permissions.
- To use the import tool, you must have Browse Projects, Create Issues, and Edit Issues permissions for the target Jira project.
- To select a specific Testing Project in the reports view, you must have the Browse Projects permission for at least one Jira project containing requirements and one Jira project containing test cases associated with that setup.
Global Configuration (Admin Only)
While the list of projects and reports is open to everyone, managing instance-wide settings remains restricted to ensure consistency across your organization. If you have Jira Administrator permissions, you have full access to manage global configurations within Testing Projects:
- Global Environments: Maintain a master list of operating systems, browsers, or hardware configurations shared across all projects.
- Test Steps: Define the default table layouts and field visibility across the entire instance.
Caution
Administrative Restrictions: Only users with Jira Administrator global permissions can create new Testing Projects (via the Create new button), modify global configuration sections (via the Configuration button), or generate a sample project.
