Search Folders with JQL
You can find the Test Cases of a Test Repository folder with JQL, the Jira search language. Search one folder by the ATM Repository field, or a folder with all its subfolders with the atmRepositoryFolders() function.
You don’t have to write the query yourself. On the Test Repository page, hover over the folder name in the breadcrumb and click the link to copy the JQL. In the flat view, the copied JQL uses the atmRepositoryFolders() function, so it also covers the subfolders.
Search one folder
To find the Test Cases of one folder, search by the ATM Repository field:
"ATM Repository" = "FOLDER_NAME"Search a folder and its subfolders
atmRepositoryFolders()
Search for Test Cases in a Test Repository folder together with all its subfolders.
A saved filter or a dashboard gadget that uses this function covers new subfolders on its own. A query with a list of folders would need to be copied again after every change to the tree.
The function takes three arguments, all required:
- Testing Project: the name of the Testing Project, matched exactly and case-sensitive, or its ID.
- Type: always
TEST_CASE. Any other value, includingTEST_PLAN, returns the error “is not supported”. - Folder: the full path of the folder, for example
Login/Positive, or the folder ID. The path isn’t case-sensitive, and a leading or trailing/is ignored.
If an argument contains only digits, ATM first looks for an ID with this number, then for a name or path.
| Syntax | |
|---|---|
| Supported fields | ATM Repository |
| Supported operators | in, not in |
| Unsupported operators | All other operators. They return an error. |
Example
Find the Test Cases in the Login/Positive folder and all its subfolders in the Testing Project Web App. The full path points to one branch, so Login/Positive and Payments/Positive don’t mix:
"ATM Repository" in atmRepositoryFolders("Web App", "TEST_CASE", "Login/Positive")Replace the Testing Project name and the folder path with your own. The function doesn’t suggest arguments while you type.
Things to know
- The Testing Project must be active. If the Testing Project or the folder doesn’t exist, or an argument is missing or empty, Jira shows an error message.
- A folder together with its subfolders can have at most 1,000 folders. This is a Jira limit. A larger subtree returns an error about the limit.
- After you rename a folder, a query with the old path returns an error. A query with the folder ID keeps working. After you rename the Testing Project, a query with its old name returns the error “not found”.
- The results show only the Test Cases you have permission to see in Jira.
